Take before, during, and after photos of any house repairs you undertake. and, if you can, keep your invoices.
This is relevant whether or not you are submitting an insurance claim. The insurance company won’t be able to tell if the damage is brand-new or the result of anything that happened before if you decide to change your mind and file a claim or if another storm hits in the future.
